창원대학교 박물관에서는 2020년 7월 14일부터 2021년 12월 25일까지 창원시 전역을 대상으로 문화재 지표조사를 실시하였습니다.
그 결과 창원특례시는 경남에서 가장 많은 유적이 분포하는 것은 물론이고 전국 지자체 중에서도 최상위의 문화유적을 가지고 있는 역사와 문화의 도시가 되었습니다.
이를 토대로 국토이용개발계획과 각종 사업 계획 수립 시 기초 자료로 활용함으로써 문화유적의 파괴나 훼손을 사전에 방지 하는것은 물론, 창원시에 산재하고 있는 각종 문화유적의 현황을 보다 정확하게 파악할 수 있는 데이터베이스화 사업의 기초 자료로 활용됨과 동시에 학술, 문화사업의 기초 자료로 이용될 수 있습니다.
